VOLUNTEERING AT KAWARTHA FOOD SHARE
We welcome anyone who wishes to volunteer at the Kawartha Food Share in any capacity. There are however certain restrictions or procedures that must be followed in order for our volunteers and staff to work in a safe and supportive environment. The warehouse manager is trained and is responsible for tracking of all the food product in and out of the warehouse. Paper work must be filled out and the appropriate forms must be signed by John. Due to the nature of some of the food product that we accept and distribute, proper logging and tracking of expiry dates are essential.
To volunteer please call John Alleyne (warehouse manager) to arrange for an appropriate time to come in to volunteer. Our regular hours are during the day however John is very accomodating if you wish to arrange for an evening to help sort.
Volunteers must report to office or warehouse manager upon arrival
No open-face toe shoes are allowed
Children under 16 are not allowed to be in the shelving area of the warehouse or to use skid equipmentDouble-click here to edit the text.
Official Tax Receipt: Kawartha Food Share is a charity organization. As such, any donations are subject to an official tax receipt. These receipts will be issued at the end of each month during the upcoming year. The receipt will include a thank you letter and two official receipts (one donor copy, and one for tax filing purposes). If you are a donor and have experienced a mistake or have not received your receipt please feel free to contact the KFS and we will get back to you.
Other Fundraising Projects:
#1 ThINK Food Project
From Inkjet to Food
The idea for the project is simple: turn used inkjet cartridges into food by providing used cartridges to the remanufacturing industry in return for proceeds for the Food Bank. In the end the Food Bank has more resources to feed people and plastic waste is diverted from landfills. Each cartridge is worth about a carton of milk, a jar of peanut butter, or in some cases a whole meal!
Types of Cartridges Collected
You can collect any type of inkjet cartridge for the thINK FOOD project. Inkjet cartridges are the computer printer cartridges that fit in the palm of your hand.
The other common type of printer cartridge is the laser or toner cartridge. These are the larger cartridges (about the size of a shoe box) that are found in laser printers, some fax machines and some photocopiers.Double-click here to edit the text.
